ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Every two years around 35 aspiring engineers from the Industrial Engineering and Management program at Chalmers are given the opportunity to be enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley. The two-month summer program runs from the beginning of June to the middle of August and combines courses at UC Berkeley with study visits and project work for startups in Silicon Valley.

Thanks to a contribution from Stenastiftelsen it was possible for students to participate in the 2022 program regardless of their personal financial situation. More information about the contribution can be found here.here.

STUDY

Each year over 16 000 students participate in Berkeley's summer sessions. 4 000 of them are international students. The summer courses are the same as those during the academic year but customized to run during the summer.

Work on project case work together with other students at a Nordic startup in Silicon Valley. This is an exciting part of the exchange where the student is offered practical experience of the engineering profession and a glimpse into the startup life.

The UC Berkeley Summer Program aims to provide students with new perspectives, improved language skills and a wider international network. The proximity to Silicon Valley, the technology hub of California, brings a unique opportunity to experience business development in project case work and study visits. Together, these opportunities have the potential to give students insight into the development processes of leading tech companies.
